If you follow Jasmine White Photography, or me personally, on social media then you are well aware that our home has been under construction for a little while, but just incase you don’t know, in April we signed a contract with the wonderful people at Green Tek Building Solutions, in Princeton, West Virginia to build our dream master suite. We are happy to say that as of yesterday, we spent our first night in our dream bedroom and I am still having a hard time believing that this is actually my space, and I get to keep it <3
As a wedding photographer, it is kind of odd to say, I was not the little girl who grew up dreaming about her wedding day (shocker, I know, lol). However, I was the girl who was incessantly grabbing the free real estate magazines off the shelves at our local grocery store and choosing which houses I wanted to live in, and which ones I could remodel into my perfect dream house, not even considering the financial aspect of it all (I mean that’s why it’s called a dream, right?).
Jason and I have constantly went back and forth as to whether or not we should build a home on our family farm, or if we should stay where we are and eventually build a cabin on the farm – we have even went as far as putting our home on the market, and when we finally had some ready to make an offer, we took it back off the market, because we were still so unsure. We have lived in our current home over 5 years and we love it, but we always were drawn in by our beautiful farm property and the idea of living in the country. After years and years of going back and forth as to whether or not we would build a new home, or make our current home exactly into what we wanted – we made the decision to stay where we are and add our much needed, master suite addition.
We talked to a lot of builders, had a lot of estimates, and none of them clicked for me – I was a bit discouraged. However, through a mutual friend, I was told to give Roger Ellis a call at Green Tek Building Solutions, so I texted (because who uses their phones for talking?). He responded quickly every time I texted, he came over the next day to assess what I wanted, and in two days he responded with an estimate that was in our budget … we signed a contract that week and the day after, they broke ground on our home addition, it was finally happening!
Throughout the past couple months I have became friends with the guys at Green Tek Solutions, they have been at my house for 12 hours a day almost every day for two months now, and they have put up with my extreme OCD about everything being absolutely perfect and never complained when I asked questions, changed my mind, or requested an extra outlet (or seven). From the beginning I felt like Roger understood this was my dream addition, and went out of his way to make it happen no matter what and within my budget. I only made a couple decisions that went over budget, one is thermostat controlled heated floors, and it keeps the bathroom tile so warm! I am positive there is not one other builder I could’ve hired that would’ve been a better fit for this project, or a better fit to handle my personality. Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if I woke up one morning with a crane outside and Roger trying to take my addition to his home, just because he has put so much heart, time, and effort into it.
Roger let me be involved as I wanted to be and throughout this process I’ve become kind of handy. I know now how to use a few power tools and a paint sprayer, I can grout and lay tile … I even tiled the rock shelf beside the bathtub by myself one night after making a last minute decision to make it match the shower. It has been fun being part of this project, and I am thankful Roger was okay with me micromanaging somewhat, and not because I didn’t trust him completely, but mainly because I was excited.
I could go on for days about the construction team and how they managed every detail and kept the stress off of me, but still let me design and pick every single finish – usually when people do a project of this size, they usually end up frustrated with the people they worked with, but I liked all of the guys at Green Tek Building Solutions more by the end of this project.
So, I am sure now you are dying to see photos since I haven’t posted any finishes the past month – so here are some of the finished photos, and this turned out better than I could’ve ever imagined and I am not sure I will ever believe I actually designed this, every single detail, down to the color of the grout and every electrical outlet placement (yes one by the tub and toilet for cell phone charging, haha)!
Enjoy looking at our new master suite <3

I decided not to post many photos of our master bedroom, because it’s not setup yet, but I wanted to give an idea of how it looks going into the bathroom, and the door on the right goes out to our deck.

These teal doors were the main inspiration for the entire space. I knew I wanted these doors and I designed most of the bathroom around them.
This photo doesn’t do this bathroom justice, this shower sparkles and glitters depending on the way the light hits it.
We decided to go with white marble top his and hers vanities, Roger and Chris custom made the mirrors!
These faucets give the bathroom such a sleek, modern feel, even though I went fresh and airy with the design.
I took some of the left over rock tile from the shower and bathtub shelf and used them in the flower vases to carry the design throughout the room.
The hardware on these doors is so industrial, whoever would’ve thought it would’ve been such a perfect fit with french country doors.
While the vanity chair and this ottoman match perfect, I actually ordered them separate and got super lucky that they match so well!
We looked and looked for bathtub faucets and when we couldn’t find anything I liked, good ole Amazon Prime saved the day!
I knew I wanted a free standing tub, but nothing I found locally was right for the space or the size that I wanted, so we ended up ordering this tub from a seller in California and I almost lost my mind waiting for it to arrive!
The smart TV was actually not part of my original design, but during inside framing I was walking around the construction site, getting a feel for the layout I picked and I was like this would be perfect for a TV … and BAM there is a TV! This gives Netflix and Chill an entirely new meaning.
Im still not super happy with these shower photos, because the shower is so gorgeous, I am going to get some better lights and probably redo them soon.
During framing and electrical I added a makeup/hair vanity in my closet (which is bigger than my old bedroom), and when we couldn’t find a vanity to fit in the space I wanted it – Roger custom made this vanity to fit exactly in the space I wanted it in. Now that is customer service! Roger and Chris also made all the mirrors!
I hope you enjoyed looking at our new addition. Check back in a few days and I will list where we bought everything that wasn’t custom made, incase you’re trying to achieve a similar look for your bathroom!
xoxo,
Jasmine
